I just discovered that this is rebuilding your life month. Im grateful that my life is where i want it right now but that hasnt always been the case. i remember after one really bad breakup that i started completely from scratch. I moved, got a new job, new friends, and eventually a new love. (whom i married!)
But as easy as that sounds written down here, it really wasnt. Are any of you struggling to rebuild your life into the way you want it? Here are some steps to help you along the way:
Step 1- Get a good support system.
This can be your family, friends, even coworkers if you are close to them. Surround yourself with people who love you and are willing to encourage you and help you along the way.
Step 2- Examine why you are rebuilding your life.
In my case it was because that breakup “woke” me to up to how i had been living my life FOR someone who didnt even love me. Now i live my life everyday to the fullest with a spouse who is a great support and help and loves me as much as i love him (maybe even more!)
Is this something you want to do? Or something those around you are suggesting? You wont be happy unless its something YOU want for you.
Step 3- Set goals.
I know you probably hear this all the time, but setting goals for yourself really will help. Start off with baby step goals and work towards the bigger ones. My first goal was to find a way out of my depression. Once i achieved that, it was much easier to work toward the next goals i set. The final goal should be the one that is ultimately where you want to be when all is said and done. Do you want to land the job of your dreams? Make all the goals lead up to finally obtaining that job.
Step 4- Take care of yourself along the way.
It stands to reason that if you dont take care of yourself during this journey that you will burn out or not make it. So make one of your goals- to eat healthy and exercise at least once a week. If you are feeling good about you, it will help you reach your end goal faster. Besides if you are planning on rebuilding your life, why not go ahead and make the transition into a new and healthier you.
and Step 5- Reward yourself for reaching your goals.
Every time you complete a goal along the way to rebuilding your life into what you want it to be, give yourself something as a thank you, to you! It could be buying some new clothes, maybe cheating a little bit on your healthy eating, buying yourself something to help you complete the rest of your goals, etc. Pretty much anything you can think of that you enjoy could be a reward.
So what are you waiting for? Get off the computer, put on your thinking cap, and start working on setting the goals to rebuild your life into what YOU really want it to be. You can do it! all it takes is a little motivation and some good friends and family along the way and before you know it you’ll be right where you always wanted to be. Good Luck!
Until Next Time,
