Veteran’s Day November 11, 2010

So, today is Veteran’s Day.  I wonder sometimes how many Americans actually know what Veteran’s Day is for? or do they just think “oh good, a day off work to sleep in!”

To me, Veteran’s Day is just as important as Christmas, Thanksgiving, and any other holiday. Why? Because without those Veterans we are celebrating, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Think of all the freedoms we have, that other countries don’t? Do you think these just happened?

NO! they happened because a soldier, a sailor, a marine, and an airman were willing to sacrifice their lives for this country to keep us free. Men and women for centuries now have bravely gone to foreign soil and fought to keep us free. Some have even fought on OUR soil to keep us free.

My husband has lost countless friends in this ongoing war against terror. I am not happy they are gone, but I am happy that because of their unselfish sacrifice we are able to live without terror in our country!!

Are you thankful for all the freedoms you enjoy in America today? if you are, go thank a soldier, a marine, a sailor, and an airman today. Tell them that you are grateful that they are willing to sacrifice time with their families, time in war, and possible their very lives to keep you free!!!

I know today I will be thanking my husband for his selfless service for our country. I hope you will do the same.

Until Next Time,

Shannon H.

Totally and completely agree! I have so much respect for the people who are in the military. It takes a special kind of selflessness to dedicate years out of your life to serve others.
